The Planner in the DiscoverEU Travel app is a very handy tool that allows you to look up train information, no matter where you are. Schedules for most European trains are periodically downloaded onto your phone, and they can be accessed both offline and online. Here are some of the useful features of the Planner, that help you to prepare your trip:
- Look up train times offline: Whether you’re speeding between cities or taking the scenic route, it’s easy to find trains that match your plans – from local and national trains to high-speed and sleeper services. You don't even need an internet connection for this to work!
Note: Because the schedules are periodically downloaded, the information in our Planner is not real-time. To check the latest information, visit the website of the train company or check the screens on the train station. - Customize your trip to your liking: You can use a variety of filters to customize the train suggestions to your liking. This allows you to add extra change time, via stations, or remove trains with seat reservation requirements from your route suggestions. - Book your reservations: You can quickly see which trains require seat reservations, and book these in advance to secure a spot on them. Go online to buy your seat reservations for many popular routes straight from the app. We’ll send them to you by email (in case of e-tickets) so there’s no waiting around. - Re-plan in case of train disruptions: In case your train is delayed and your initial plan does not work anymore, you can easily find the next available connection in the app. Simply make a new train enquiry in the Planner from the station where you leave your train, and see what your new itinerary will be! There are some countries that are not (yet) included in the DiscoverEU Travel app. This includes Spain and Portugal, the United Kingdom, as well as various countries in Eastern Europe. However, you can still visit these places and plan your journey to them, even without using the Planner. We have written out some easy stepsto prepare a trip to these countries over here.
