Once you’ve added your DiscoverEU Interrail Pass to your device, you can start getting ready to travel. We have also gathered some tips and tricks for travel preparations, which you can find here.
Once you feel ready to start creating your train ticket, you can follow these steps to create a ticket:
- Go to the planner and search for a journey you would like to take. Choose a journey from the results and save the journey to your trip. For tips on how to plan your trip, you can check out this article.
- If you’re sure you’d like to take thetrain you saved, then you can add it to your Pass in the My Trip section. You can do this by turning the switch on, that you find next to any saved train in My Trip. Once you use the switch, a QR-code will be generated for this travel day in the My Pass section of your app. Each train you activate will be listed below this QR-code, and serves as your ticket for that day.
- We’ll ask you to use a travel day when you add a train to your Pass, if the date of your journey isn’t already a travel day.
Note: If you're planning a trip to Spain, Portugal, Greece, the UK, the Balkan countries, the Baltic countries or Türkiye, your destination might not show up in the Planner. Please check out this article on how to prepare your trip and create your ticket.
You will now have a ticket in My Pass. Go to your Pass and tap one of the dots for the travel days. Then, tap ‘Show ticket’ to see your ticket for that day. The ticket will contain a QR-code, as well as an overview of all trains you've added to your Pass for that day. This can either be scanned or visually inspected by ticket inspectors.
Note: If you decide to travel on another day, after you've already activated a travel day, please make sure to cancel that initial travel day before the start of that day (00:00 CET) to avoid accidentally losing it! You can cancel a travel day in the My Pass section, by selecting the day and pressing the ‘cancel travel day’ option. For more information on this, check out this article.
